Byron Bay Comedy’s monthly comedy room, bringing fresh laughs to Paradiso Music Room on the last Tuesday of every month.
Five shows, 24 different comics and plenty of reasons to come back. Since launching in June, Rick’s Comedy Review at Paradiso Music Room has given Byron Bay a monthly comedy night with its own changing personality.
The idea is simple: bring together a headliner, an MC and a showcase of local and regional comics, then change the mix each month. For audiences, that means new voices, different perspectives and the pleasure of discovering someone whose name you might not have known before the night began.
June’s opening show set things rolling with Mandy Nolan headlining, Grace Hogan on MC duties, and Dan Sevcik, Odette and Mark Boulton completing the bill. The debut sold out, giving the new room a flying start.
July brought another sold-out show and a fresh combination: headliner Ellen Briggs, MC Jacques Barrett, and showcase comics Denzo, Laine Chait and Vanessa Ballard.
August delivered a surprise: the secret headliner was Jimeoin. Vanessa Larry Mitchell hosted as MC, with Torren Curtis, Marcus Thorpe and Grace Hogan completing the line-up.
September’s show featured Brian Freeman as headliner and Andrew Roper as MC, alongside Elysia Hall, John Peacock and Lou Smith.
Then October’s fifth edition brought Sandeep Totlani, MC Marty Bright, Sian Smythe, Sophia Hutchens performing as “Steve”, and Jeremy Keast.
Together, those five shows represent 25 performance spots and 24 different comics. But the numbers only tell part of the story. Each combination changes the rhythm of the evening: a different host guiding the room, a new set of voices in the showcase and a headliner bringing their own approach to the finish.
That variety is at the heart of Rick’s Comedy Review. You can make it a regular night out and still walk into a unique experience every month.
The intimate setting helps. With just 60 seats at Paradiso Music Room, the audience is close to the action, sharing the surprises and laughter as they happen. It’s a room where established acts and local and regional talent share the same stage, and where finding a new favourite is part of the appeal.
There’s one more night to come before the year wraps up. Rick’s Comedy Review returns on Tuesday 24 November for the final show of 2026. Earlybird tickets are on sale now, with the comics to be announced soon.
