Tickets on sale tomorrow, Thursday 5 June at 9am

In what has become a cherished local tradition, Byron Writers Festival is once again teaming up with First National Byron to offer the Sunday Locals’ Pass – discounted tickets exclusively for residents of the Northern Rivers region. This offer recognises and celebrates the strong local support that has helped shape the Byron Writers Festival into what it is today.

Available only to residents of the Byron, Ballina, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley, and Tweed council areas, the Sunday Locals’ Pass provides access to the festival at Bangalow Showground on Sunday 10 August for just $99, a saving of $46 off the standard single day ticket price.

Chris Hanley, CEO of First National Byron and Byron Writers Festival founder said, “Festival Sunday has always been special for the locals. Relaxed, chilled and filled with laughter on the last day, Sunday is the perfect opportunity to experience the festival and get a taste of this wonderful event. Byron Writers Festival has been built and sustained by a passionate local community, so First National Byron is very proud to support the Sunday locals’ tickets for residents of the Northern Rivers”.

Jessica Alice, Artistic Director Byron Writers Festival said, “I’m delighted to invite Northern Rivers locals to join us this August and share in a big celebration of books. Our beautiful community and culture is at the heart of what makes Byron Writers Festival the leading regional writers festival in the country.”

The Sunday Locals’ Pass will be available from 9am on Thursday 5 June, for a limited time only.

Among the featured guests already announced are literary luminary Esther Freud (UK), beloved Australian author Helen Garner, commentator Joe Aston, memoirist Gina Chick, 2025 Stella Prize winner Michelle de Kretser, acclaimed novelist Hannah Kent, author and advocate Thomas Mayo, celebrated storyteller Nardi Simpson, and bestselling writer Markus Zusak.

This initial announcement of distinguished guests offers a glimpse of what’s ahead, with the full lineup of over 160 writers, thinkers, and commentators to be unveiled on Wednesday 11 June. Grab your Sunday Locals’ Pass while they last and experience the magic of Byron Writers Festival.
