Byron Shire and the Northern Rivers region has been hit with devastating floods.
The scope of the disaster, hampered by mobile and Internet outages, saw normal services stretched beyond their limits.

The local communities were quick to organise and help with the rescue and recovery efforts.
On top of household possessions, cars, and businesses that have been destroyed, over 2000 homes have reportedly been declared unliveable.
There is a long road ahead, here’s a list of places to offer or ask for help.
