The 2025 winter school holidays (NSW 5-21 July, QLD 28 June – 13 July) provide a well deserved mid-year break.
With average temperatures of 12-19°C (and water 21°C) there is still plenty of fun to be had outdoors.
Plus it is Whale season in Byron Bay!
Here are a few school holiday activities to consider, and be sure to browse our Byron Bay accommodation guide for a family-friendly place to stay.
Byron Bay Whale Watching
Whales are here from May to November, but June to early October is the peak. And while they’re not on a schedule, they do seem to love Byron’s calm, shallow waters. So keep watching. They often stick around.
