Now in its 13th year, the North Coast Mud Trail invites you to explore the working studios of 33 ceramic artists across 22 locations in the Northern Rivers.

Held over the weekend of 16–17 August 2025, the trail runs from 10am to 4pm each day, with participating studios spread throughout the Byron, Ballina, and Lismore Shires.

This is your chance to step inside local studios, meet the makers, and see where the magic happens—on Bundjalung Country, where ancient clay meets modern hands.

What to Expect

Studio Open Days
Artists open their doors, offering a rare glimpse behind the scenes. You’ll see kilns, wheels, workbenches and the clay-covered chaos of real creative spaces.

Meet the Makers
Have a chat. Learn about their practice, their process, and what inspires them. From wheel-throwers to sculptors, every studio has its own story. Artist profiles will be available online and in print.

Live Demos & Workshops
Throughout the weekend, selected studios will host hands-on workshops and live demonstrations. Whether you’re a collector, a maker, or just curious—you’ll leave inspired.
