The Gidjuum Gulganyi Walk is a four-day, 48km guided hike through some of the most spectacular country in the Northern Rivers. It runs from Unicorn Falls in Mount Jerusalem National Park to Minyon Falls in Nightcap National Park.

“Gidjuum Gulganyi” means “Old People’s Track” in the language of the local Aboriginal peoples—who have walked these ridges and valleys for thousands of years.

Along the way, you’ll pass through Gondwanan rainforest, walk beside waterfalls, cross volcanic landscapes, and end each day at a luxury glamping site. Your pack stays light. Your food is cooked for you. Your camp is already waiting.

The Walk

This one-way trail runs north to south. It starts at Manns Road carpark and ends at Minyon Falls lookout. Follow the markers. They’ll keep you on track.

Each day is fully guided. You’ll walk through dry sclerophyll forests, lush rainforest, wide lookouts and ferny gullies. A support crew transports your gear ahead to camp. All you carry is a day pack.

When you arrive at camp, there’s a hot shower, a proper bed, and a cold drink waiting.

The Experience

Each camp is fully set up before you arrive. Tents are private. Beds are raised and made with fresh linen. There’s a lantern-lit dining area, a grazing platter, and dinner prepared by a local chef. In the mornings, you’ll wake to bird calls, hot coffee, and a cooked breakfast.

The food comes from the Bloody Good Food Co. The drinks are local—Stone & Wood beer and Jilly Wines. Your hosts might even remember your dog’s name by day two.

The guides are trained environmental scientists or Aboriginal cultural specialists. The tour is run by Vision Walks, who won NSW’s Best Tour Operator in 2023. They also hold Australia’s highest level of Eco Tourism Accreditation.

Day 2: Camp One to Camp Two (14.7km)
Climb through blackbutt forest to two scenic lookouts. Cross into Nightcap National Park. End the day at Nightcap Bluff and settle into your second camp.

The final leg leads through rainforest and the towering brush box of the Valley of the Giants. Swim at the base of Minyon Falls, eat lunch, then climb to the lookout. Transport returns you to town.

At Camp

Wake slowly. Sip coffee. Stretch out. No packing. No rush.

Evenings are relaxed. Lanterns glow. Drinks are poured. Dinner is served at a custom blackbutt table. Fall asleep under dark skies to the sound of the bush.

Safety First

Your guides and logistics crew stay connected by satellite phone and beacons. All camps are off-grid, but fully equipped. Phone reception is patchy—but support is always close by.
