Encounter astonishing Humpback Whales in their natural habitat as they migrate past the coastline between Ballina and Byron Bay on our incredible Whale Watching tour around Byron Bay. We depart from Ballina’s Richmond River and enter the pristine waters of Cape Byron Marine Park.
Enjoy breathtaking coastal scenery while listening to live Humpback Whale song using our specialised underwater hydrophone. Our friendly Marine Biologist will share in-depth knowledge of the area & jaw-dropping encounters we experience within Byron’s Marine Park. We are so sure you’ll spot a whale from June 1st until the end of October that we offer a free return trip if you don’t see one on your first whale watching adventure!
About The Vessel
Our modern eco friendly vessel provides 360 degrees viewing and the most comfortable ride with individual seating. It’s unique hull design ensures a smooth ride in all cruising conditions, for up to 20 guests. Our purpose built, state of the art vessel allows our guests to explore areas along our stunning coastline, only accessible by boat.
About The Whales
Between June and November, the Byron Bay coast is one of Australia’s best destinations to watch these majestic mammals on their annual migration from their cold Antarctic summer feeding grounds to their warmer, sub-tropical breeding and birthing grounds off Australia’s coasts. Humpback Whales are believed to use landmark to help with navigation on their migration, so they tend to hug the coast making local waters and Cape Byron, Australia’s most easterly point, centre-stage for the whales. Mothers choose calm, sheltered and protected waters like Byron Bay to nurse, teach, rest, and play with their young in preparation for their long swim back to the Antarctic.

Location:
The vessel departs from Ballina at Lance Ferris Wharf, 12 Fawcett St, Ballina NSW (directly in front of The Wharf Bar & Restaurant).
Although we depart from Ballina, we travel along the coast between Ballina & Byron Bay, depending on where the whales are. Ballina is a 30 minute scenic drive south of Byron Bay.
