The artwork of Matthew Sansom is a creative narrative that is expressed with images of nature, storytelling and design.
Using observations of the natural world, the play of light and a symbolic dialog, Sansom constructs a unique vision with composition, pigment and brush stroke.
Matthew has been a practicing artist since training in Art and Design, Geelong TAFE Australia (92-3). His portfolio shows a range of influences with his earlier works coming from an illustrative angle. More recent exploration of naturalist and impressionistic styles. His subjects include landscape, birds, figurative, portraiture and at times mythological themes.
He has also produced costume, set and stage design and mural works.
In recent years Matthew has established a studio in Byron Bay and sold artworks to collectors around the world.
He has garnered several awards along the way.
In 2016 he launched an international solo exhibition, ‘Ulysses Garden’ (birds and flora). Kingdom of Bahrain.
Currently between commissioned works he is compiling a body of Landscape and nature interpretations.
